Based on the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden is one of my favourite musicals, and Dickon one of my favourite characters. I was so very excited to play this wonderful part.
In the ninth grade I played “Colin” in a production directed by one of my first mentors, Karen Cunningham. A young man named Jonathon Appleton played “Dickon” in that production and he was absolutely electrifying and I really looked up to him. About a year or so before I played Dickon at the Gateway, Jonathon passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer. My performance is dedicated to him.
Reviews:

“Crittenden stole the show… grabbing the audience by the jowels” -Matthew Hoekstra, Richmond Review
