What to do on a summer day??
  • Hey there summer, thanks for showing up.  You’re my favourite time of year and I was starting to fear you were considering abandoning your good friend, Critty.  I’m glad you didnt.

But I have a new problemo, and I’m hoping my fine blog readers and website visitors can help me out with it.

I live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, full of potential adventure.  My job (the best in the world) provides me with scads of free time every day and I want that time to be filled with beams from the sun.

I’ve been taking advantage of our new patio in Gastown, as I was during this great picture with the uber talented and hilarious Meghan Gardiner.  But I know there are tonnes from great things I’m not digging into.

Obviously I’ll be doing the usual tourist traps like the Cap Suspension Bridge and the Aquarium, but what else???  Lemme know in the comments.

Try the following on a Vancouver day in summer:

    1. Check out the show of drawings from Paris’ Musee d’Orsay running until September at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Pay what you can is on Tuesdays from 5 to 9pm, and the Gallery Cafe patio is one of the best in town for eating and drinking. Sign the poster in the front supporting the gallery’s move and expansion to a parcel of lot closer to Gastown!

    2. Get your library card and visit the Vancouver Central Library in the Colosseum-like building. The outdoor plazas on a sunny day are very welcoming for hanging out, talking to friends, or even reading a book.

    3. You could probably do a late night show — 10pm or even 11.45pm show — of Improv/Theatresports on Granville Island at the very brand new Improv Centre. Outdoor patio for libations overlooking the Granville Island marina before the show.

    4. Ride the Seabus to North Vancouver, produce shopping at Kin’s, and maybe lunch at The District or at Burgoo.

Saw you in “The 25th Annual Putname County Spelling Bee” during the teachers’ appreciation afternoon. I can’t believe I got booted out of the spelling bee for an imaginary word!

  • Jeremy,

I have been doing new things, this summer. I have been venturing around various parts of Vancouver like a tourist. I have discovered things about the city that I did not know anything about.

I have been doing a lot more photography projects. I have been trying to find new hobbies from board games to RPG’s.

This summer is going to be amazing…I am going to make it that way for myself.

Do you play any board games? If so, you can check out various places that cater to board game players. There is a store in Tinseltown. Craving For A Game is in Surrey for those who are out that way.

The one thing that you should not do this summer: Get arrested. Do not get yourself arrested. hehehe
